Thirty One & Frisbee Fun

I had a $10 coupon to the Sports Authority.  Ever try to buy anything for $10 these days?  It's darn near impossible.  It was coming up on our friend Reni's birthday so I told myself I would use the coupon towards his birthday present....  I didn't want to spend too much money on him and I could either get him a pair of socks and some bubble gum with my $10 coupon or end up spending A LOT more money and get him some sort of fancy sports jersey for $10 less than it's over-priced value (I'm cheap).  If I didn't have this coupon I probably wouldn't go out and buy Reni a fancy sports jersey, sorry Reni...So I scoured the store for hours looking for something fun and under $10.  I ended up finding a gun that shoots rubber bands up to 30ft for $9.99.  I thought that would be pretty funny.  But I also thought it might be a pain to try to find the rubber bands after you shoot them...and Reni doesn't like to litter.    Plus are guns really that fun?  Not really.  Someone will proabbaly get shot in the eye and that would probably be me.  After wasting an hour and a half walking down every aisle of the store twice, I ended up going with a frisbee.  Everyone likes a frisbee.  The only one under $10 was the Aerobie frisbee. [See frisbee in picture above, to the right of Reni...the ring shaped one that anyone who has ever tried to throw it has ended up getting it stuck in a tree]...

I checkout at the counter and the cashier goes "I love these things but the last one I had got stuck in a tree!"

I show it to Trevor... "Oh yea these things are great, you can throw 'em the length of a football field!  OF course if it doesn't get stuck in a tree!"

So we take it to the park, everyone throws it at least once and...big surprise... it ends up getting stuck in the tree.... I bought the bright yellow frisbee so that in the chance that it does get stuck in the tree, it will be much easier to spot....
 Can you find it?

We spent the next 90 minutes throwing rocks, balls, and sticks at the tree....  getting the rocks, balls, and sticks stuck in the tree....shaking the tree....dodging the rocks, balls, and sticks falling out of the tree...

I do hate to brag, but it was my final stick throw that got the darn thing out of the tree after everyone else's 183 attempts...

And as much as I hate to brag, I also really hate to admit that the second that frisbee fell out of the tree I ran around the field happy as a clam and full of pride at my accomplishment and gave that frisbee the hardest throw I could muscle .... boy did that thing go soaring higher and higher and further and farther into the highest part of the tallest tree in the middle of the woods....
Can you find it now?

....and there goes Reni's birthday present....  we never did get it back....

But we did have a fun wine-tasting weekend in Solvang regardless...

Sleeppppyy.....

have to wonder if tree inhabitants, such as squirrels, upon seeing the aerobie land in the tree, begin to prepare for the barrage of rocks and sticks that is soon to follow. i've always found the wiffle ball bat to be the most effective device in tree retrievals.

It is the best blog ever, though it is the only one I have ever read, and I am Ren's Mom. But that being said it was a riveting story, with a bit of a sad ending.
